I'm getting ready to replace the very wavy original front and rear bumper covers on my '84. The options are, as I understand it, fiberglass, True-Flex Fiberglass (which, i'm told, is still fiberglass and doesn't really flex), or urethane.
My question is, how long does it take for the urethane to get wavy? And is today's urethane better than 1983's? A friend has a '92 with nary a wave--has the formula been improved in the past 20 years?
I don't want another case of the waves, but I since I occasionally bump into things, I like the idea of using urethane.
I'd appreciate any thoughts and/or experience on this issue. :seeya
Ive found that the bumpers from late 80s-90 have less waves and fit better. Also keep in mind that just because the bumpers are rubber that you can run into things and it wont effect the bumper. When you come in contact with an object,it generates heat and the heat will distort the rubber.
