Thanks again; I see the answer to my previous question on that link.
Still wondering what TEmp the main fan IS supposed to come on tho... :crazy:
About 115c
:cheers:
OH! I thought 115 was when the ECM overrode all else. I figured the main fan would be called on much before that.
ecm controlled: set the temp value to about 224F-228F about 115C. second /aux fan few degrees higher. manual by pass switch fans are controlled when ever activated, temperature will decrease to a few degrees more than the value of temp stat(depending on daily heat), but will certainly be lower.

Was going to post this as a separate question, but here's as good a place as any;
I have a lower than standard thermostat - will this bring on fans earlier?

You need an aftermarket chip or a lower aux fan switch.
The lower aux fan switch will only start the aux fan earlier unless the two relays a jumped together.

...Which I have JUST done. Both relays are jumped together now. Both fans work but I've had to share them between one connection (near front of radiator) where previously only the aux fan plug was...Cannot find the 'proper' wires for the main fan as per haynes manual.
What do you mean "lower aux fan switch"? - You mean the sensor at side of block?

You can buy a lower temp aux fan switch that is in the block now. On my 86 is drivers side.
Mad, Echlers etc sell them. You might be able to cross reference thread diameter and find a switch locally. They can't be that special :smash:

Thats what I thought you meant but best to double check. OK, I'll look on their site or ask my local chev guy (Martys Auto Parts) if he can get something similar...
