New outer tie rod ends
Greetings ! Since the search function appears to still be inoperative - I am posing what may be a repetive question. If it is , I apologize. I just received my new front outer tie rods from my local chevy dealer to replace my worn ones on my '95. I am confused and a little concerned as to why the new ones don't have the slotted nut and hole for the cotter pin like the original does. Is this right ? What are the chances of the nut loosening up ? :eek: Thanks in advance for any responses ! :steering:

The new one I got from GM for my 86 was the same way it uses a special nut with a concave washer built in to it that flattens out when you torque it down and it acts like a lock washer. I was a little leary of it myself but I guess time will tell I'm sure it will work fine or they wouldn't make them that way. If you get a end from a parts store like NAPA it will have the slotted nut but wont be an exact stock replacement.
