I haven't ever supported the engine when the tranny comes out. I don't notice it till at all, and have never seen any harm come from it. Good luck!

If this is for your wife's 85 (right?) Then my helms (86) said to remove the dist cap and support the rear of the engine so the distributer doesn't hit the firewall. Yes my engine did rotate...and yes I did support it!

When I pull the ZF-6 from my '95 I don't support the engine. Actually, I find I need to tilt the engine as far as it will go to get the shifter to clear the floor of the car. Just watch for anything that might pinch between the engine and firewall, like wiring etc.

Yeah, but is that a case with a 4+3? (1985 to be exact)

There has to be someone here who didn't and knows the hard way...or hopefully not the hard way...
