ive pulled trannys before but never a vette tranny.......on some cars the engine needs to be supported or it will tilt.........is the vette like that???? the reason I ask is Im gonna have to move the car on a trailer after I pull the tranny out and dont want any headaches
If this is for your wife's 85 (right?) Then my helms (86) said to remove the dist cap and support the rear of the engine so the distributer doesn't hit the firewall. Yes my engine did rotate...and yes I did support it!
thanks........so basically the engine isnt stable on its own........I will have to move the car to a shop once I find one so maybe I'm better off not yankin the tranny at all????
When I pull the ZF-6 from my '95 I don't support the engine. Actually, I find I need to tilt the engine as far as it will go to get the shifter to clear the floor of the car. Just watch for anything that might pinch between the engine and firewall, like wiring etc.
