what is the perfomnace of the orginal l98?
1/4 time, 0-60mph and more...
i was surprised when i got mine, only thing i know that is not orginal is the exhaust headers and K&N filter, and it goes strong, spin new 275/40Zr17 up to 80 kmh :cool:
stock is around 6 seconds, varies by year a little.
Mine is currently about 5.5 seconds consistently. 5.2 if I get a good launch. The L98 has that great low-end torque so avoiding wheel-spin is pretty hard unless your running R-compound tires.
it's a 89, yes great low end power pull hard in 2k rpm, like i sad (hmm misspelling) i wass realy surprised when i flored it :yesnod: and good fuel milage can somone here read the Vin code for me? dont know anything about the car,
Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your new Vette.
Yes the L98 launches hard and pulls well through 1st gear. The way to minimize wheel spin on launch is to do a little brake stand and then roll into the throttle as you release the brake pedal.
What year Vette is it?
The VIN doesn't tell you much except the year. For example:
-1 == made in USA
-G == made by GM
-1 == Chevy division of GM
-YY == Corvette
-07 == coupe; 67 == convertable
-1 == manual restraint
-8 == Corvette L98, 5.7L V8 TPI
-6 == check digit??
-J == 1988 model year (G==1986; L==1990)
-5 == Bowling Green, assembly plant code
-xxxxxx == sequence code
The Regular Production Option (RPO) list for the car is located under the center console lid; there are web sites where you can decode the major items listed there.
