Obvously, that is not out of your C4. The Dana's use a roll pin to hold the shaft in. That looks like a solid or straight axle. The title to your post says, "GM Rear end". The picture of the lock pin (bolt) isn't clear enough for me to see if you got all of the threaded portion of that lock pin. Those lock pins are only threaded into the case, under the hex. They are plain round where they pass through the pinion pin and back into the case, beyond the pinion pin. If you got all or almost all the threaded part of the lock pin, you may be able to drive the broken piece back out with an appropriate sized drift. Good luck, and...
I've had good luck using a sharp pointed scribe against the shaft that is still in there and working it in a counter clockwise rotation. A little penetrating oil will help too.
thats a 8.5" GM 10 Bolt.. solid axle.. this is out of the drag car..
Part of the threads (almost 1/4") are still in the housing..
I lubed the part still in the axle with some WD40 (good tip) I'll try the pick approch you mentioned... I just hope I can get a pick small eough where i can have it try and turn the bolt counter clockwise.. aghhh!! Could I just use a punch and drive the pinion shaft off? Would that shear the retaining bolt off?
