Are they failing as in: Leaking? I got a set that came with the Carroll supercharger kit that I purchased awhile back. I've yet to install them but now I is gettin' scared! :yesnod:
They are new. Been using them for 2 years and they run just fine. I suggest you contact rich at cruzin performance for details maybe he can put this to rest once and for all.
This topic comes up about once a month and while most claim them to be garbage I suspect they are repeating folk law and do not have any first hand experience.
Lets face it, everything fails and it doesn't take much to start the "this stuff is junk" stories from circulating.
I can say from personal experience that I know 3 people that have them and they have had no problems at all. My brother has them in his Camaro, my Dad has a set in his GTA, and my brother-inlaw has them in his Vette. I'm sure if they were as "junk" as people say, Summit and Jegs wouldn't keep selling them. Their loading docks would collapse under the weight of all of them being sent back under warranty. Just my $.02. :seeya
I installed my accel 24# injectors in 1994 and have put over 100k on them with no problems at all. I have enough faith in them that i bought a set of 30# for my next engine. Price was rite also
Save yourself a potential headache and go with the FMS injectors. They are cheaper and I seldom hear a bad thing about them. I got mine new on Ebay for $150
I put the FMS injectors in because they were the best deal out there but think I'm down a bit on power. these are not the same as stock and the stock style are supposed to provide better atomization according to my limited reading, Any one
know which work best ? and is there any benefit or liability in using the next size up with no other modifications ? I am running a superchip with an adjustable regulator with a couple Lbs over stock spec but haven't played with the pressure much., K&N with cut lid, airfoil.

Do you have any other mods on your car? If not than I'm willing to bet your car is running very rich. The Superchip probably makes the car run rich and the 24 lb injectors (I'm guessing thats what you have) are also making for a rich condition. If it were me I'd yank the superchip, put the stock chip back in and bump the fuel pressure down a couple pounds to compensate for the larger injectors. When I installed the FMS 24 lb injectors I was unable to keep the car from running rich, even after bumping the fuel pressure down. A custom chip solved that problem and now the cars runs better than ever. :yesnod:
I put them in my 85 and for 2 years, have not had any problems just performance. i dont know if i would buy another set after hearing all the horror stories. Either they are really good or i got really lucky. Does Accell ever address this issue?
Anyone have info on how to get the FMS units? Like a part number/source other than Ebay? ....and prices on the Bosch (stock I believe for 1985) 24lb units? I called here locally and they wanted like 140$ for ONE bosch injector! :cry
It was a while ago since I got them and I don't remember the spec on them but thought they were supposed to be 22's, stock replacement and occasionally I've noticed that "rich" smell. When I checked the impedence they speced out the same as stock as I recall. so when I get around to it I'll check the pressure again and try stepping it down and maybe my in town milage will improve also. And just to clarify FMS stands for Ford Motor Sport ? as those are the ones in now with the top hat style nozzle opposed to the concave style as stock.
