Default Headers vs. Doug Rippie performance manifolds.

Just wondering what the benifits and disadvantages are for both. I just found the info on the manifolds on the Doug Rippie site last night. They bolt right up to the existing system with out modification. I'm just wondering if they are comparable to long tube headers and what has to be changed to accommodate long tubes.

Those are just the shortie headers. Definitely an improvement over stock but not as beneficial as long tubes. Lots more of those are available for your LT1 than long tubes. That's a lot of money to pay for shorties though, they can be found much cheaper. To put long tubes on an LT1 or 4 you will have to lose your stock cats and use some smaller, aftermarket ones farther back than the stock location. Some guys eliminate them altogether but I don't think we can get away with that here in NC anymore with the new emissions inspection.

I dont know if they are still available but DRM has an off road long tube header that will bolt to the stock system or aftermarket cat back. but its kinda expensive though.
