I ran the XR288HR in my 383. Those cams run strong, sound good and pull all the way to valve float. It idled well and had good vacum also. It was a little chunky below 2500RPM in overdrive though.

Depends on your displacement and total intake flow. My 383 TPI (with 266 CFM heads) just couldn't get in tune with the 224/230 at 112. My Mini ram is doing better with 224/230 and 114. I probably could have gone with a 224/224 at 114 for a much better idle.
