my 92 has fx3 susp. but does not have the shocks(that means doesnt have the fx3 suspention :p: )it has this little caps hanging close to each shock with a little teeth inside... what is this?? are this caps a plug in to the fx3 shocks or what could i be missing ...and how i know if this works thanks..
What is supposed to happen is this.
If you have the right shocks on the car they should have a little cog wheel on the top of then that turns. You would slip those black caps over the top of the shock so they mate. Then their is a little silver clip the goes around the black cap and fits into those slim cut outs on the side of the cap to keep it in place.
Sounds like the previous owner replaced the FX3 shocks and left the actuators in place. I replaced my FX3 shocks with non-adjustable Bilsteins but removed the actuators and protected the plugs in case I ever want to restore the adjustable suspension. You might want to remove the actuators unless you plan to restore the adjustable system, they are almost as expensive as the FX3 shocks. If left unprotected, they could be damaged. You might want to check the rear shocks and see what was done there. The actuators are up inside the frame rails.
