89 corvette battery drain
the battery drains some when car is parked but if I clean it with the doors open the car won't even start! The battery is new.
also with the key in acc position the radio speakers hiss quite loadly. i don't think a BOSE should sound this way! are the problems related? I just bought my first vette. 1989 with 60000 miles. very nice but a few minor problems. thanks for any advice :auto:

Sounds like you have something shorting out. If you have any lights or power options that don't work I would start looking at those. Good luck.

Bose stereos should never hiss.. If your battery drains while you are cleaning your interior, (say, one hour), then you have a major short and need to get it checked out. Good luck. :chevy

With a drain of that size I would think the bad circuit wire will be warm. I would start with the wires on the starter and solenoid.

Contact Doc Don for the speaker problems. Had the same thing with my 89 and the Doc is the best and least cost alternative. He can be found at: http://www.doctordons.homestead.com/. Do you have an ampmeter? Open the hood and look at the battery drain with the hood lights disconnected. The car computer will pull a small current. Remove each fuse one at a time and see if the high drain disappears. This will tell you where to look! I would wager you have a short in one of the door panels due to a sharp edge. This is a tough problem, keep looking and you will be amazed at what you can do!!! SAM
