Default Poly vs Mass back carpets... appreciable sound level difference?

I'm getting ready to swap out the carpets in my '87. The previous owner gave me a new set of carpet for the car-- unfortunately I realized today when I opened the box to check it that it's a poly backing set. (just to save $70? Come on, don't be so cheap!)

Is there really an appreciable difference in sound/heat levels in the car between mass backing and the poly backing? Hopefully someone with experience can chime in. The poly set does have some pre-cut pieces of jute padding to go with it.

I happen to have a few rolls of this stuff lying around:

Think this would help bring the poly backing up to snuff with the mass backing?

My other fear with the poly backing is that it won't hold it's shape as well as the mass backing stuff.

Should I go ahead and install the poly backed stuff as-is, install it with some additional insulation like I posted, or sell it and buy mass backed stuff?

Thanks,
Troy

with the padding it may be quieter than the mass back. could also insulate better, not sure though. if you do install it , weigh the poly w/ the padding versus the mass back. id really like to know the difference.
