I have 3.07's on my Xfire as the original rear with the Z51 option. I just finished TRANS-planting a ZF6 in place of my 4+3. I also have 11" ZR-1 wheels on the rear and still have a problem not smoking the tires at any rpm above 1200.

Richmond makes a set of 3:54 or 3.55's that fit in the series two carrier that the 2.59 Dana 36 differential has.

I haven't done it (yet) but my research indicates about $350 for the parts and anywhere from $200-$600 for the installation. It's a job that requires experience and special tools so unless you've got both, figure on paying someone to do it...

:nonod: YOU ARE THROWING GOOD MONEY AFTER BAD.....UP-GRADE TO A DANA 44....SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR THAT...GOING TO 3.54s IS LOT MORE COSTLY THAN YOU THINK! WITH OUT A TRANNY COOLER THE TRANS WILL GO IF YOU DON'T MAINTAINE IT OFTEN!! IT'S FRIED WITHOUT A COOLER!.....THE DANA 36 WILL BE ON BORROWED TIME ONCE YOU SEE THE NEED FOR TORQUE CONVERTER .....THE LAUNCHS WITH 3.54s ON STREET TIRES ARE INCONSISTENT SOMETIMES YOU LAUNCH HALF WAY DECENT , MOST TIMES YOU DON,T....RUN DRAG RADIALS FOR TRACTION AND YOU,RE DONE...MINE BLEW ON STREET TIRES THE FIRST TIME THEY HOOKED -UP $400 -$500 FOR A MIRE SWAP IS NOT GOING TO SATISFY THE NEED FOR MORE! BUT $500 OR SO WIL GET YOU THAT MUCH CLOSER TO A DANA 44.....OR GO WITH 3.07S AND REST EASIER WHEN YOU PUNCH IT!

I agree on the installation of the gears into the diff, but he can save some good coin by doing his own R & R on the diff.

RACE ON!!!

So Screamin' Dave, you're running a PE catback, no cats, 3.07s and a 2600 stall TC right? Any engine mods? What kind of 0-60ft, 0-60mph, 1/4 mile times are you getting with your current setup? Thanks...

I have not gone to the track yet....the only thing i can gauge my set up on is it's street performance....and seat of the pants......where i live the LS1 boys rule...carmaros... corvettes...etc. and some 5.0 stangs....I was loosing every race until i started doing my homework.... my motor is stock....with just minor mods.that i don't even consider, like an air flare( air foil ) and granatelli maf....I reset my computer once a week when i figure it has adjusted for the granatell maf....I can honestly say....if the LS1s are stock.. I,ll take them...with that said ..I'v got to be running mid to low 13's....PEACE!!
P.S. 1.7 roller rockers are next...with harden pushrods and guideplates and better springs.... :flag

Default I hope you guys are still alive😁

This site has so much knowledge I hope everyone shares it on these sites! I have inherited a 92 convertible automatic and it has the GM1 rpo. Can I not go to a 3.05 from the 2? I am retired from the military and would like to take trips with my wife but I'm not gonna lie... I'd like to bark a little like my Z's did. Thanks!!

The 3.07 has a decent snap at low end (versus the 2.59) and is still good for cruising with only 4 gears in the 4L60.

However, if you want to drag and don't care about fuel economy you should pump up to a 4.11 rear end. It makes the Corvette come alive!!!

(BTW: My 93 with 2.59 is boring as hell but gets 28mpg. My 94 with a 3.07 is fun, but my 95 with the 4.11 is insane fast.)

You can see how quick the 4.11 rear end accelerates here...

Thank you, I was wondering why I was getting such good gas mileage. Yesterday was my longest drive in it and through Columbus ohio rush hour traffic. I guess i will leave it alone. No racing, just cruising.
