JET low temp cooling fan switch..which coolant temp sensor to replace
Someone on another board thought that the switch I need to remove is on the drivers side of the motor. I looked in the manual and there is a coolant temp sender there. But in the service manuals it says the switch for the fans is on the pass side by the dipstick tube.

GM swapped the location of the temperature guage sending unit with the fan switch, several times. Go with your manual. If you'll give us the YEAR of your car, I may be able to confirm the location with my parts book.
Gentleman. I just purchased the Jet fan kit for my 94' and cannot remove the plug from the drivers head between plugs 1 and 3... Any suggestions? I heated the surronding area, used a .5" impact, large breaker bar and am losing my patience. There are no other plugs on the engine.

Thanks
Heat the plug, and spray it with some wd40 while it's hot. Should come right out.
88 will have the fan switch between cylinders #1 & #3.
p.s.
To identify.
Coolant Temp Sendor for Cluster is a 1 pring flat blade connector.
Fan Swtich is a push on round single wire connector.
:iagree:
Guys with only 1 fan have a pipe plug instead of a temp switch between the #1 and #3 spark plug threaded on the cylinder head. I had to grind down a pipe plug socket to an 8mm size to fit the square hole in the plug to remove it.
Guys with 2 fans simply remove your old switch and install the new one.
Well there is a switch between the #1 and #3 cylinders...so I suppose that's it. There is also a switch by the dipstick. Really makes me wonder why they needed so many GD coolant temperature sensors...there has to be at least 4.
PB Blaster can be bought at any autoparts chain. I use Autozone.

The item next to the dipstick on your '88 is the temperature guage sending unit, not a switch. Remember my initial post?

In addition, you have a temp sending unit in the front of your intake manifold, for the ECM, and an IAT, if your car is so equiped. There is also an oil temp sensor above the oil filter in the block. I THINK that is the end of the temp sensors. As I'm sure you know, the ECM controls the main fan. The temp switch controls the aux fan.
