My top-end buildup project came to a screeching halt over the weekend when I discovered a chunk of piston skirt in my oil pan. Now I'm faced with either doing a complete rebuild on my (non-roller) block, or buying a roller short block and saving myself some other troubles. Anyone know a good reputable shop that builds and ships block/rotating assembly setups? I don't have a huge budget on this (I wasn't expecting to do any work to the block), but I'm not looking for a "freebie" type deal, either. I don't need anything race-ready, just something that'll take 450-500 HP. Don't particularly want to go 383, either, for a couple reasons.
Anyway, any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much.

I had that exact thin happen on my origional motor. I ran it for years after that. I beat the tar out of that motor. That little chunk of shirt will not cause any piston wobble. The lt1 pistons dont even have a typical skirt, this little piece was eliminated to save weight. Just my $.02
You could also find your own roller block from a place that specialises in that kind of thing (I was quoted $200) and put the thing together the way you want it. PaceParts is an excellent resourse otherwise. I'll try to find the caprice shortblock link over there (it ain't easy) and that is a killer deal if you don't want to stroke :seeya
Thanks for the link. Probably a good deal, but I don't need half the parts! Already have new cam, heads, timing set, valve covers, etc.
I think I've found someone whose shop can build me a setup with forged pistons and decent components for about $1300 + shipping. I'll do a bit more research and see what else I can find.
