Sorry guys for not reading the posts right. I do not have the SLP claw - I have an 85 and it does not fit. I have the SLP cleaner lid extension with a scoop that extends below the shroud (after you cut the hole) to just above the spoiler. :seeya
I had to cut an aprox. 1' + 1' hole in the rad. shroud to put the box in. The filter is actually goes 1/2 way through the hole.
As the air gets diverted up into the rad by the spoiler, it is under pressure and is forced into the filter.
The only other true "cold air" induction, is the one through the license plate, but it's opening is at a low pressure area. I think it looks ugly, but at the time it came out, it was the only one available.
I totally agree with you Q1KSLVR. I like my Breathless unit too. The Claw gets big  in the looks cool department. It is all a personal choice.
As for the 17hp added with the Vortex, I did see the guy's dyno sheets (I did not have the test done, another Vette owner did). As for the gains, I don't feel any difference on mine and I couldn't tell you what else he did or how the weather differed. There are a lot of factors that can attribute to a 17hp increase shown on a dyno. All I care about is the increase in fuel economy over the cut lid box. With my driving, the fuel I save will pay for the Vortex in about 6 months. For that, it was well worth it.
A member of the local Corvette Club in WPB, FL did a dyno run before and after installing the Air Rammer and showed an increase of 17 hp. He showed me the paperwork.
Did he do the runs back to back or on different days? If on different days the results are flawed.
One of my friends with an L98 that runs 12.1-12.2 all day long lost power on the dyno with one. He put his stock box back on and gained the power back. Then he did the same thing at the strip and went a slower ET. Put the stock box back on and ran his normal # again.
Different days...
That is why the only thing I claim to see on my Vette is the increase in fuel economy. Other than that, I can't tell a difference.

I did a dyno test on a stock '93 atuo with a K&N in top notch condition.
Our club went to Breathless where we put the car on the dyno and did a few runs. I installed the Vortex on his car (not fun when it's hot) and retested. We saw at least a 15 HP gain!
My brother-in-law sends his 2002 Camaro SS to SLP for upgrades. He tells me that SLP's engineering dept designs alot for GM these days. They don't play hit and miss with your wallet when it comes to bang for your $$$...
