Here is a problem I hope someone has experienced before. The switches on my dash and console do not light up when the interior lights are on. The dash lights gauges light up just fine and the heater LCD lights up, but none of the back-lit buttons light up. I checked every fuse and none of them are bad.
Anyone know how to fix this or what to look for???????
I have this very same problem. Gauges light up fine but no heat/ac controls are visable at night. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but on my 1990, I think the buttons are not back-lit but are illuminated by a small bulb that shines down on them from the rear view mirror. I replaced this bulb with a new one and all fuses are good but still it doesn't work.
Have you guys checked your grounds yet? I believe there are three, two are on the engine block on the back side (firewall side) I forget where the third is,
I believe from the dash to the pillar on drivers side. Hope this helps.
It may not be the same on your later model, but the Heat/AC control on my '86 did this not long ago. The lights went out, and the temp numbers would occationally go beserk. Before I did anything drastic, I took the control unit out and cleaned all the contacts; fixed the problem. Another time some of the other dash lights went out and it was a fuse. Hope this helps.

Whats the "control unit" and how do you remove it to clean the contacts?
