yea like people said above if its stock just use regular. However if u have done internal mods like pistons or cams or somehow altered the compression ratio then ur goian wanna maybe bump up ur octane. But if ur car is stock just run reg gas
My 85 manual says min.87, but it also talks about percentage of additives ie: methanyol so forth. I have to run premium to prevent pinging here in florida.
Thanks

At least you know you have to use premium. You've checked. The best octane number for any given car is the lowest, that doesn't ping, or produce excessive knock counts.
TheStef,
Checking knock counts is a great way to check. I just disconnected my knock sensor, and judged by ear. Like we had to in the olden days.

I was running cheap-O-gas in my car for a while. But I noticed that if I got on it hard when I first started it up it would knock just a tiny bit. I started running 89 in it and the knock went away. Works for me. That and 89 is usually not that much more than 85.
As stated above if you can run 85 then run 85.
Speaking of octane my 97 Audi A4 says to run 91 octane in it........ WTH?! It is a NA V6. Unless it has super high compression why would they want me to run high octane in it? It only make 180 HP so the octane thing seemed really strange. Put premium in it this time. Next week I put in the cheap stuff. Checking the gas milage and we will see if I have to run the high stuff.
