Default First Dyno Run. Does this sound right?

First let me say this seems high to me, but I am staring at the paperwork now.

Dynojet Model 248C

4th gear = Max Power 270.3 Max Torque 311.2

My only real mods are the Corsa and "Claw" air intake, which by almost all opinions on here does little.

What do you guys think, and if this is right, how can I gain 30 - 50 more HP and 30 - 50 more ft/lbs of torque for $1200 - $1500?

Just put a 50bhp shot of nos and your done.
And it won't even cost you that much.

Sorry, should have defined the 30 - 50 more HP and Torque.

I am trying to stay away from the nitrous. What mechanically can be done?

Headers, etc.

If i were you i would change the rear end gears to 3.73 (if you haven't got them already) i think that would make the 30bhp without touching the engine.
If its an auto put a dana44 in it.

WHOA..... gears do NOT make power. They only translate how the power you already have gets to the wheels.

Sorry Damien89, but gears dont increase horsepower.

For 30-50, try headers/cats, then maybe rockers to keep your mechanical involvement to a minimum. Otherwise a cam would get you there.

Yes i know that changing gears doesn't yield to actuallly making more hp but he would get the extra seat in the pants power with just the gear change

Then don't go saying it'll make 30bhp which is break horsepower )flywheel horsepower) when it won't.

The 270 and 311 are about where they should be

A full new longtube header setup would probably get you about 15hp at peak, with increased power everywhere. 1.6 roller rockers might get another 10-15.

But to get the rest, you would need to get into the engine. Since small mods dont help the LT1 quite as much, its designed well enough already. Head porting and matching to the manifold, and a cam change would get the rest and much more. Realize that a cam change would necessitate changing valvetrain parts, and if you went with stout enough springs, you can go up to 1.7 RR for a little more power.

Vader,

Thanks for the info. Would it be possible to to do just the the longtubes and 1.6RR and expect 20+?

Also, I am almost certain the plugs and wires are original, and even though I only have 36k on the clock do you think I would pick up any with new ones?

I think 20hp would be possible.

Yeah, I would expect around 25 with both.

A tune-up would help yes.
