After replacing the gaskets on my intake manifold, I ran into a difficult bolt to tighten. It's the bolt that holds the AIR pipe steady to the rear of the pass side head. Is there a special wrench that can reach it for tightening? It's a 14mm bolt head. There has to be a way and you guys can find it. I've gone through every 14mm wrench I have in the tool box. :banghead: Thanks guys.
Re: 92 LT1 AIR pipe install?????????????? (Strick)
I took and flattened the boxend of my 14mm wrench, this helps but it's still a pain in the butt bolt. I have the AIR tube off now, I'm thinking about just zipping that bracket off. :)

Well since you are getting little response I will tell you how I got mine, although I dont think it will be of much help. I did it from under the car, but I have the exhaust system off of it. I know what you are saying about on top. By the way, did you have any trouble seperating the tubes from the exhaust manifold?

Thanks for the replys. I got it off by going between an open end and a box end moving only a couple of thousands at a time. As far as removing the AIR pipe from the exhaust, I had to buy a special crows foot socket from, you guessed it, the MAC tool truck. I also soaked it in penetrating oil. High temp anti-seize works good with headers. I'm still working on tightening this little bugger. :smash: :smash: :smash:

OKAY GUYS here's the tool to use: It's at Sears and it's the GearWrench ratcheting combo wrench Get the flat ones that change direction of ratcheting by turning them around. Tools, the right ones make things easy. :hurray:

Hey Tom....I just now read your post....I discovered those ratching wrenches worked great on the bolt whn I installed my headers awhile back. BTW...be sure you chase the threads on the AIR fittings on the headers or you will have a guarented leak. And that added air messes up the O2 readings. Ask me howI know. :D
Re: 92 LT1 AIR pipe install?????????????? (Strick)
I could never find out how to loosen it, let alone tighten it, so I just cut the bracket off, it doesn't seem to serve much purpose anyways. Maybe a offset wrench would work?
