supposed to come on when open, but most guys install a switch.
on the newer c4's, there's a fuse near the left front headlight that goes to em.

They should come on when you open the hood..on 91 up you should have a fuse by the left side marker light its for the hood lamps

Yup, some people unplug them because sometimes they come on when the hood is closed, bad mercury switches. If yours don't work you might want to check the connectors.
