During the last few Corvette events and cruses I went to, I noticed the Sony digital cameras are very popular. Some of the newer Sony digital still image cameras also take high quality MPEGS.
Last trip I had my wife holding the camera while recording some in car MPEGS, the results were a little shaky, so I made a very simple camera mount for my 95 coupe.
Its very easy to make, easy to use and easy to remove. The camera is hidden behind the rear view mirror for the most part and the control for the shutter is still accessible. The mount holds the camera rock steady at all speeds……..

I'm going on a little three month vacation to visit a desert in the Eastern hemisphere, when I get back I'm definitely getting a camera that will shoot video...and darn it...then I'm going to have to make one of those mounts!
Projects are already lining up.

Looks good, I made one for my camcorder that fits between the seats just behind the driver and it works well. I made it from wood and a tripod screw. Total cost less then $10.

Re: C4 Sony camera mount. (warren s)
Nice setup.
The harness bar mounts are good for seeing what the driver/gauges are doing. Another trick is to rig a light infront of the camera that comes on with the brake lights, so you can see when you on them, or off them, trail braking.

I have one of those "goofy" cross-bars and it works great. I can also put my radar detector on it. But I like the view best as you can get the dash and outside at the same time. It's a good way to record your trips down the 1/4 mile.
