Default Problems installing new pull out injectors...

I need advice quick!

Just stripped the old injectors out of my 86 and ready to install the new pull outs that I ordered from fiveomotorsport.com

First thing I noticed was that there wasn't a locking ring to hold the new injectors on the fuel rail so I thought no big deal, I'll remove the one's off my old injectors and use them.

1st problem, There are 2 notches (my old injectors have only 1 notch) for the locking rings to fit in. The top notch doesn't allow me to seat the injector in the fuel rail.

When I remove the locking ring, it seats in the fuel rail.

I can't use my locking rings on the 2nd notch because it isn't cut in a full circle. Note to self: Perhaps these injectors use a different style locking ring.

Then I notice that the injector looks abit on the small side. I stand it next to my old injector an take a measurement. My old injector is between 1/4 and 3/8's of an inch longer.

I checked the e-mail that I received from fiveomotorsport.com regarding the part # I ordered and compared it to the website listing and the part #'s matched. Bosch 0280150561 D9B-22lb*

Then checked the # on the injectors they shipped.
One side :FOTE-9F593-D9B Other side:0280150561

I don't see how these injectors can stay seated properly once the rail is pressurized.

OPINIONS?

:banghead:

BTW: Don't even mention the fact that there pink!

The Ford injectors are just a bit shorter than the GM ones. You can't use the factory locking rings. I seat the injectors in the intake then install the fuel rail and secure it with the bolts. Cycle the pump a few times to make sure there are no leaks.

If these are the same as the pink ones I got from Five O, than there should be no problem.
I reused my lock rings and installed them without any problems.
Tell me more

Here is what I did. I stood an old and new injector side by side and placed the locking ring on the new injector at the same height as the old injector. I just looked at the new injectors and the locking ring is on the top slot. They may not seat in the rail because the locking ring it not turned right. It should slide into the rail until the locking ring is all the way against the rail and then the locking ring is pushed to one side, locking the injector in place.

Skip

Thanks Skip

I did just as you said and it seated in perfect.

No leaks. Will finish up tomorrow and let you know how it's running..

On my "pink tops" I used the top groove on the injector and it seats ok in the rail and it goes in to the injector bung completely ( thats important ) so it wont have a vacume leak.
