Default Oil Consumption Question.

I have a rebuilt 87' / ZZ4 engine in my 84' with 7K miles on it. Question I've used about 1/3 Quart of Mobil 1 5W30 in a little over 4,000 mi. Is this about Normal?

That's damn good IMO. I'm usually down about 1/2 qt. @ 3k miles in both my vette and van.

sounds ok, I would run 10w down here, but that doesnt make much difference in terms of the consumption

The best place to find your answer is from the machinest. Oil clearances vary and I match oil to bearing clearance.temp matters also but I would check the clearance

Thats great... I read an ASE article that stated - get this....

One quart for every 800 miles is acceptable, anything less

should be looked at as a potential problem. 1/3 quart over

4000 miles? Youre all set....Definitely
