My nephew's 93 just died idling in his driveway. This after a new 396 installed. Was running fine, then just died....no spark. The opti is new with about 3 hours run time on it. We changed the coil and ignition module and we're getting the proper volage to the module. His security system seems to be freaking too. Lights flash, doors lock and unlock, the hatch opens on it's own....stuff like that. Could it be related? The car cranks, but no spark. Not sure what else to check....I know very little about LT1s. Any help would be appreciated.
You can bypass the key by pulling the panel underneath the drivers side dash. There will be a small 2 wire connector under there. You have to jump the two contacts with a resistor. Measure the resistance on the key, this should be the size you need. This will bypass the key and cylinder, if it works one of the 2 is your problem.
Do a search in this forum for VATS, you'll find a wealth on info. You could also try sparying a little bit of graphite into the ignition cylinder and cleaning the key.
one possibility is you might need a new Ecm
my 94 kept stalling out when ideling....
ecm along with a brand new battery were replaced....
problem solved....
good luck
