right front squeak during braking....

right front squeak during braking....
Need some advice here: the right front makes a high pitch squeak. Definitely seems to be related to the brakes, but Chevy said the pads/rotor look good on the right front(did a real quick inspection with wheel off) and were not very helpful. Here are the symptoms:
1. High squeak under braking pressure
2. Now, sometimes squeaks without my foot on the brake as I am taking off.
3. I am getting ABS and ASR codes simultaneously upon heavy breaking
4. maybe unrelated but....when I start the car now, the brake is stiff with no travel, basically the car rolls a couple of feet until the car is cranked then the brakes grab...
Any thoughts?

I had a similar squeak - but it was while releasing the pedal. My right front caliper was sticking and the brake pads were not coming off of the rotor quickly.
If I understood your last statement... Without the engine running the brake pedal will be hard. The power brake booster uses engine vacuum to assist the pedal pressure.

Jack up the front of the car. Rotate each front wheel by hand. Each wheel should turn freely with a slight drag from the brake pads. I think one of your wheels will be very tight. Sounds like a stuck piston/caliper to me.

Also, you may want to check for small hair-line cracks in the rotors. Mine is beginning to squeak, and I know the problem, I can look closely at the rotors, and the hair-line cracks are barely visible. I am getting ready to get a new set of rotors...might want to check them... :chevy

are you getting a pull to the left or a pull to the right? If a piston is sticking there will be more pressure at the oposite wheel. This might be setting off the ABS code. Also what kind of pads are you using. Dont use all asbestos pads, they will squeak. I use only semi metalic. I was using cheap asbestos once and had a bad squeak at low vehicle crawl and at braking. :smash:
