Ok. I want to get some original 40 series mufflers. I am going to have my friend weld them onto my stock system. The stock size is 2.75" if I'm not mistaken.
So the question is, when I buy the mufflers, will either 3" or 2.5" inlets work. Its only a matter of whether the muffler slips over the pipe or inside? Is this correct or will one work better than the other?
Your '93 exhaust pipe and tail pipe have an OD of 2.75" (wall thickness .054"). It is advised to maintain the same ID, or larger, when mating components.
So you would advise that I go with the 3" inlet muffler to mate with the stock system? I've been trying to get ahold of my friend who is going to weld it for me but he's been really busy. I need an answer pretty soon so I can't wait for his opinion because there are some mufflers on ebay I want to get.
