Default tranny problems

My cars in the shop right now......and my mechanic says my noisey transmission needs new syncros and bearings.......he tells me you can only buy the bearings and syncros in a kit and with parts and labour it comes out to 2700 canadian? does this sound right? he also said a new transmission is 9000 canadian.....my car is a 93 6 speed......any info would be great thanks

WHOA!! If my monetary conversion is correct, that's way large! I'd get my vette and run from that place.

Assuming a 3:2 exchange rate that would be about $1,800 US.

In the NY/CT area an A4 performance rebuild here can go for $1,500 and a std rebuild for $850.

So, I would say your price sounds a little high but there are usually boarder crossing issues that tend to inflate pricing.

Lets see if any of the 6-speed guys here come in with real world info.
