I've read this Corvette Fever may issue, and they were talking about C4 suspension in the how to buy used vettes. They said something about C4 suspension start having problems near 80,000 miles. I got 98,500 on mine and begin to notice some symptoms. I hear a lot of squeaks every where in my 89 coupe. Maybe something's loose? What should I do? Should I replace the suspension system or have a dealdership fix it for me? These are my only options.
I hope my vette doesn't fall apart piece by piece while I'm driving it. :leaving:
The rubber bushings need to be replaced (more time than mileage), the wheel bearings and the springs may delaminate. The wheel bearings and the springs are more so depending if the suspension was modified, extreme alignments for autocross or road courses, etc.
:iagree:
I have over 161,000 miles on my 93. So far, I have replaced the upper A-arms (needed new upper ball joints, so I replaced the whole unit), shocks and sway bar bushings. I have the polyurethane upgrade kit (bushings) and when I need to replace something, I go ahead and upgrade it. MY suspension is tight (only have one rattle which is a high pitch buzzing in the right rear corner inside the car at 2000 RPMs).
