Wire boot protectors when using headers
Is it necessary to use spark plug wire boot protectors with long tube headers? Which are the best in appearance, performance and value? Summit offers quite a few options.

As you can see from my sig pic, I'm using DEI boot protectors. They're rated at 1200*F. I've alway had problems burning my boots even with header wrap so protectors seemed like a no brainer especially when spark plug wires are like $60. :crazy:

I have used DEI and am currently using Taylor boot covers on my 87. They both work great! I'm using the stock looms except I'm not using the bottom 2-wire looms. As long as they don't touch the headers you'll be fine. I had one that was touching the header and the heat burned through it in about 6 months and it burned the wire. There really is not much difference between the two other than Taylor offers a variety of colors.

What loom kits are you using? Will they work with stock center-bolt valve covers?
