I am guessing you have a '92 from your name..
Have you thought at all about the Opti?? Every time my opti has died, the big symptom was a miss.. and or backfire.. (last one, I had plumes of exhaust coming out of my intake!! Sometimes an opti will throw a code.. sometimes it wont..
Re: UPDATE 3 on missing engine ..arrrrghhhhhhh (MarkLT1)
No expert here, but I had a miss on my L98 that was rather elusive to the usual fixes that turned out to be a bad Accel injector with not that many miles on it. Yep, still runnin Accels. :smash:

Re: UPDATE 3 on missing engine ..arrrrghhhhhhh (GhosTRydeR_92)
Whenever you repair ANYTHING, never make assumptions about the condition of the parts. Even if your opti was 8 minutes old, it should still be suspect. I believe I have previously given you my advice and I haven't read anything about the results. Most misses are due to one or more spark plugs not firing. Even though your plug wires are new, unplug them one at a time and measure the resistance of EACH wire. They should measure about 5000 ohms per foot. That is how I found a bad Delco 1 week old plug wire on my 87. In the darkness with the engine running, see if there is any sparking along any of the plug wires. Plug wires have microscopic pinholes in them and if the wires are dressed too close to grounded metal, they may spark through the pinhole causing that plug not to fire.
