How important is SFI? Are they need in mild racing? (1/4, Auto-x, Road racing)

Depends on what class you'll be running in. SFI approval means that it has passed some elemtary tests and is approved for racing applications. I haven't read the rule book in awhile, but if you run the 1/4 under a certain time, you must have SFI approved parts. For me, it's worth a little peace of mind to pay for the SFI approval.
