I got a way thats free, but you're not gonna like it...........put the stock system back on
Seriously though, I can't see why you would have lost that much torque. Maybe a tad because of the free-flow mufflers, but it shouldn't amount to much. Have you had it to a dyno or to the track for before and after results? Maybe the loss is in your head.
I'll bet the loss is in your head. I did before and after dyno results on my 90 vette. I went from stock exhaust to headers, no cats, muffler elims and true 2.5" duals and GAINED torque at every rpm.
The only way to know if you gained or lost torque is on a dyno or drag strip. Of course if the mufflers are not hi-flow you could have lost torque due to back-pressure increase. Try removing the mufflers (open pipes for test purpose) to see if response is better.
Install an AFPR and bump fuel pressure a little.
Also check base timing; 6deg BTDC is stock and you might try 8deg BTDC.
Also check TPS base idle setting; stock is .54 Vdc and you might try .65Vdc for a little better throttle response.

I put a hypertech chip in. I thought I may have read somewhere that if you have a chip not to advance your timing. Is this right or am I imagining things.
If that is the case what is gained by the chip. Just better gas mileage? I know you cant believe claims from manufacturers but they claim a horsepower increase.

Sell your chip on ebay. Mod the car as you like it then get a real chip tuned specificlly for your car and mods here off the forum. Ski_Dwn_It did a fine job with the chip for my car and unlike the Hypertech, I had a very very long time ago, his chip actually increased the power.
