Default 8K tach dash improvement

Does anyone know how to convert your dash (1990 and newer style) to the Zr1 8K RPM version. Does someone make a kit for it? or know how to do it. Do I really have to find a ZR1 dash?
thanks, chris

If you're talking about the instrument cluster, you can use one from an LT-4. You'll have to find one at a salvage shop or look on EBay. Expect to pay $200.00-$300.00 for one.
For R&R instructions on the cluster, you can check out my tech tip.

DRM and LPE can recalibrate and modify your existing instrument assembly to the 8K rpm version as found in the ZR1. Cost is around $300. I don't know if a ZR1 instrument cluster will "plug and play" with an L98 1990 Corvette.

LPE's version: http://www.lingenfelter.com/lingenfe...35&pf%5Fid=207

I can't seem to find the link on DRM's website for this service, here is their web address though: http://www.dougrippie.com

The only problem with that would be the mismatch in color between the dash and IP lettering... 94-96 use white lettering rather than yellow...

Yep, but it's for the driver's eyes only... ;)

Yup I agree on this one... I stole my parts from 91 ZR-1 works pretty good.

Mine only cost $85! I sent my dash to Jimmys Radio Repair in Phoenix Arizona, they are the AC Delco repair station there. I had them replace the cluster face plate with a 95 ZR1 face plate and then recalibrate the tach for 8000 RPM. That is the same thing that DRM and LPE charges you $300 for! So find your local AC Delco instrument repair shop and have them do it for a lot less $$$$

The only thing that would screw this up is if the face plates are no longer available. I did 6 of them in 96 and 97 so its been some time ago. And I only charged $100 and shipping!
