Default Hey! fixed the TPS/Code 22 problem!!

I took the vette into the shop and had them test the TPS. He said it was shot and I had it replaced. It was the original TPS and had lasted 126,000 miles. It had already been going out - I just didn't know it. Whatever I did when I cleaned my motor was a good thing! It made me replace a bad part that I didn't know about!
My question is, what all exactly does the TPS affect? I know the acceleration is improved already! Does anyone off-hand know? :steering:
Thanks!

The ECM uses throttle position (supplied by TPS voltage) to determine enrichment, engine load, WOT condition and idle condition.

Throttle position is also used by the ECM to determine if other sensor readings are valid.

When you are going to power clean the engine you should always cover electrical equipment and connections before proceeding.

Do you have any mods to the engine?

No mods yet - I just got the paint done (poorly too. That is getting redone) and I am working on the interior now. In a way, I'm glad that I didn't cover the electrical stuff - just so that I found out about the TPS! But that won't happen again. :bb I had problems before with starting - it turned over quite a few times before it would start - hot or cold - but now it pops right off. My gas mileage had gone down a bit lately - hopefully that will improve???

Your milage may very well improve since the ECM is now getting the "correct" information from the TPS. :D

These cars (like mine too) can be a labor of love... :yesnod:

Your reduced gas mileage may be due to new-found "fun of driving"; for a valid measure find a flat stretch of highway, set cruise and check instentaneous & average. It's amazing how a little "spirited driving" can drop that average mileage number.

Well, I do know that my car gets much better gas mileage (instantaneous) at 70 MPH than it does at,say, 60 or 65 :blueangel:

Ummm, I'm not sure. I will look next time. My little 110 mph run last time got cut short 'cause I was headed onto the I205/I5 interchange. :auto: :hurray:
