2. Both! It is a Borg Warner Super T-10 4-speed manual with an automatic 2-speed overdrive mated to the tail shaft. The car has a clutch and everything, you drive it just like any other stick car and the overdrive can be operated by a little button on the top of the shifter or the computer can control it.
3. Yes, a 700R4 is a 4-speed automatic.
Here are 2 of mine, dirty one had just come out of the car.
So the guy I am getting the car from says it is a 4+3 Automatic. It is actually a 700r4 this is a late year production with the aluminum heads.
Thanks
Ray
Ok, look inside the car. If you see a clutch pedal it is a 4+3 and you'll see the shifter has the shift pattern on it (which doubles as the overdrive button). If there is only a gas and one large brake pedal it is a 700R4 automatic.
Pop the hood and look at the valve covers. If the valve covers have 4 bolts in a line down the center of them then they are an aluminum heads.
This is my '87, but the engine will look the same. These valve covers bolts mean aluminum heads. If it were 4 bolts on the outter edges of the covers it is an iron head.

The 4+3 is NOT the same as the 700r4. That is a comlete automatic. There were two choices, the 4+3 which as others have said is a 4spd with an OD and the 700r4 which is a plain automatic.
