Default First post Windshield Wiper Help

I have a white 94 Coupe, and I have a problem with the wipers. They don't work. I don't think the motor pooped out, B/C the Cruise and the Wipers are inop, while the turn signals and the highbeam switch work fine. The motor makes no noisel, so I think it is the switch. Does anyone know the fix, or the part I should buy to fix it. Also where and how much???? Any help appreciated. Oh yeah, and this is my first post!

Did you check for a blown fuse?

:iagree: A fuse check is the first place to start.

Sure, swap out the fuse just to make sure it isn't the cause. If it blows right away, then you have a short - and that's when the "fun" really begins.

If you 94 is somewhat like my 86 it has three connectors. Two are easily seen because they are up top and plug into the black plastic cover.

The third one is at the very bottom of the motor and is hard to see and reach without removing the wiper motor from the firewall.

I suspect from your problem that the cruise control and wipers are on the same circuit You need to verify this and if they are, then the problem is cmmon to both of them.

A wiring diagram is what you need to be able to trace down the connections. I'll bet that someone on the Forum is familar with the wiring; hopefully he/she will respond with a post.

Jake

If the diagram is the same as my 96 I'd be happy to scan it out of my service manual and email it to you. Let me know...

I think the diagram is the same. If you could email it to me it would save me some serious money. Email is on file. Thanks!

OK, I scanned the wiper section and converted it to a PDF file. The last page is a troubleshooting guide for "wipers do not operate in any mode" and emailed it. There are additional charts for partial mode operation which I did not include so let me know if you subsequently need those (about three additional pages). Now I'll get started on the Cruise Control section...

Well, I'm having some trouble finding the Cruise Control schematics. Book 1 tells me that "for Circuit Operation and System Diagnosis regarding the Cruise Control System, refer to Section 6 (which is in book 2). Once in book 2, I can not find any reference to the Cruise control system there other than it's in Cell 34. Nothing in the index or the table of contents, either. If someone knows where to find it in book 2, let me know and I'll scan it and email it on. However, I did find this in 9B-6 of book 1:

"The cruise control set and engage switches are part of the multifunction turn signal lever assembly (smart switch) and are not servicable. The multifunction control lever must be replaced as an assembly..."

In the meantime, I'll keep looking for the CC diagnostics and schematics...
