Default Rear End Gears

I have been thinking about installing either 3:73 or 3:90 gears in my '89.

Does anyone have any recommendations on which brand to buy, and where to buy them.

Currently the car is a 6-speed with a Dana 44 with 3:54 gears

Also need recommendations on installation kits.

I have heard that Richmont gears are mainly for drag racing and are loud, any and all comments are welcome.

The first question I'd ask you is what kind of modifications have you done to your car. If heavily modded for higher than stock power band then you may benefit from the new gears. If lightly modded than you might be better off with the gears you have.

I have no experience with this company but I have noticed their ads in several Chevy mags: Randy's Ring and Pinion. http://www.ringpinion.com or 888-905-5019. Knowledge is power so do all the research you can before you spend the bucks. You might also ask for advice from Ron Kane of Kane Automotive Inc. http://www.kaneauto.com or 217-788-5263 out of Springfield, IL. He is a Bloomington Gold instructor and has lots of experience with C4s. :seeya

The car runs NCCC IIE, so it has had some modifications and can handle the 3:73 gears.

The problem I have with the existing gears is the fact that I stripped the pinion gear and need to replace the gear set.

I also cracked the case and put a small hole in the case, it is going to the welder tomorrow, hopefully the case can be saved.
