Default Trouble code # 34 on 87

Hi All,

Well here I am again asking for advice on my 87. Car has been running great and no issues until we went out for Easter dinner. As I was arriving I noticed that the engine died. I also noticed that the old check engine light came on. When I got home I got out that old paper clip and checked the code that was set. I got # 34 MAF. How often does the MAF go out ? Our Volvo XC eats them about once every 6 months. Does anyone know of a source for new MAF's that are reasonable in cost or will a used one work and where can I get used stuff?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks All,

Don

NAPA stocks replacements that will fit your 87. Replace BOTH relays first to make certain it IS the MAF. I've used NAPA replacement MAF's and they held up well. BTW, they ain't exactly cheap but I would advise against getting a used one; then again, you may get lucky. A used electronic part....is a used electronic part and no telling how many miles are on it. Fact of life: all electronic components fail eventually. (Usually at an inconvenient time!) :yesnod:
