Default Possible to refinish console?

Is it feasable to refinish the black console parts(such as the console around the shifter)? I would like to remove or cover up the light scratches on it, and the ashtray door as well(can't see paying $100 for a new one).
Is there a way of painting or covering up the scratches?

I posted a tech tip about this - not sure if it's been posted.

I used something called plasti-dip, diluted with lacquer thinner, and sprayed on with an air brush. It has the exact same feel and texture as the original rubber coating, and the finish is very close.

I've seen refinishing paints in the different catalogs for the console and two bezels, but have not used it. Your ash tray lid is easy to refinish, it's metal and you can spray it with a flat black. I redo mine turned out good.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

I did mine this past winter. Came out VERY nice.

What i did was washed the plactic in hot water with dish soap several times. Using a very high concentration of soap. You need to get ALL the silicone off the plastic or it will fisheye. I did this several time rinsing and getting new water/rag.

Then I lightly sanded the entire thing. They make plastic filler if yours is busted up, mine wasn't. once it was all sanded I went back and washed it again several times.

Then I rinsed it several time whipping it many times with a clean rag.

I then blew it off with a air hose to ensure it was dry.

I bought some plastic paint at Autozone. Black Satin finish I believe.

I then sprayed the piece with many light coats. each time changing 90* how I applied the paint. I did this several times allowing each coat to dry.

Let it set overnight and it came out wonderful.

Hope that helps.
