...and it seems to be coming from the rear! Should I check/replace my diff fluid? WTF could cause a humming noise from the rear which gets louder the sharper I turn?
Re: A new problem!!! Humming noise while turning (dtorc4)
Does this happen at different speeds? Or just higher speeds? I drove a 95 that had a humming noise coming from the rear. It would get louder as I turned to the left and quieter as I turned to the right. It ended up being a wheel bearing. Just one possibility.
Re: A new problem!!! Humming noise while turning (dtorc4)
If it is a U-Joint at slow speeds it will be a woop woop type noise. They seem to be most noticeable at slow speeds. In any case good luck. U-Joints are at least cheap and easy to install.
Re: A new problem!!! Humming noise while turning (dtorc4)
Could be a noise maker on the brake calipers in the rear gone loose. When I first read your post I thought it could be low power steering fluid, but since its coming from the rear...I'd say have it diagnosed, or just have the diff. serviced, it might have a leak.

Lift a side of the car. Grab the top and bottom of a wheel and try to wiggle it. Then try the left and right side. You should feel no play. If you do pull the wheel and try to see where it is loose.
