Default ECM testing?

Anyone know if ECM Testing can be done without mega dollar dealer equipment. If so how and what do I need  If not does insurance cover hand grenades    almost there.
Thanks to all who have offered suggestions

The first test would be to pull codes; then try the Field Service tests on my site.

If the ECM executes these tests chances are good that it is fine.

Hi 65Z01,

On your site you say...

Test the ECM - Engine Running
1. Connect a 3,9000 Ohm 1/4 Watt resistor across ALDL pins A & B and start the engine.

Do you mean a 3,900 Ohm 1/4 Watt resistor or a 39,000 1/4 Watt resistor? (My guess is 3.900)

Thanks for the info!
