Default Supercharged, How much diff (HP) do headers make?

I'm in the debate about picking up gadget (CO2 sprayer kit) or simple power with long tube headers.

What kind of power difference will long tube headers as replacements of stock shorty headers make on my LT1 Supercharged Vette? Running about 8PSI.

I'd just hate to spend $1k - $1200 getting long tubes installed with cats on my Vette only to find a 15-20hp difference.

I've never got numbers on that, but IMHO, headers are a must with sc's. Afterall, you're cramming more air in there and expecting more out the stock exhaust. If anything, I would think the absolute best mod for a sc'd car is a cam with more lift/dur for exhaust and headers. I would guess an easy 40-50FWHP just for that.

(taking cats and mufflers into consideration of course)

Keep in mind, there's also the benefit of less blowby on stock rings with a good flowing exhaust. That should keep you seals living longer.

The guys in the shop over at MORE here in town figured another almost 50 RWHP on my setup to swap from the hooker shorties and stock cats to long tubes and no cats or longtubes with high flow cats. Granted, my setup is pretty extreme already, but yours sounds mean as well so I'd think you'd probabbly see at least 30. I'd tell you what I got, but I won't be doing that for a while yet.

Thanks all, looks like I'm leaning towards the headers instead of the CO2 kit.

50rwhp? sorry dude it ain't so. Shalin has tested this on his sold blown 355LT1. from shortie header and swap over to long tube. The gain were 25rwhp. 12psi 575rwhp with long tube header.

Like I said, I'm just going from what I was told by professionals that do this on a daily basis and that know my setup. I'll post actual numbers if I can ever get around to doing the swap. The cats are hurting me alot more than the shorty headers it seems like to me. Of course I was taking into account a dyno retune as well, not just tossing on parts. We detuned the setup pretty decently for daily driving so with the longtubes I'm sure there will be a pretty extensive retune to try to work some of that power back in safely. My own estimates (like I said) were a bit more conservative at 30 hp. I just figured the numbers they were telling me and the differance on mine they were actually saying is a 40+ hp gain between longtubes and no cats or high flows along with retuning. I don't wanna misrepresent what they said or anything!
