Default Missing Intake Manifold Bolt!!!!!

When I was battling my serpentine belt last night, I noticed that the forward-most bolt (by the TB) on the driver's side of the intake manifold is non-existent. I have no idea how long it's been this way, but I imagine it'd be good to get it fixed ASAP.

Stealership for this one, or what?

I beleive the LT1/LT4 intakes are "dry" intakes. Meaning that no coolant is circulated thought the intake base like the L98 base for example, that requires thread sealant on the intake bolt to prevent coolant leakage. Sounds like you have not had any problems this whole time without that bolt. I would promptly install a new one to make sure the intake is sealing properly against the head in that corner.

On mine, that bolt goes into an oil passage in the head.. I had oil seep up through it after R&Ring the intake base.

I pulled it out and put RTV on it.. and torqued it back down.

If yours is dry, then just get a new bolt and throw it in, you'll be fine. There's 12 bolts on there for a reason, and it's not because 11 isn't enough.

that is absolutely correct.

I agree with Central Coaster, too. install a new bolt. If it ain't leaking, thats great, but at the front, it helps keep the intake/block seal from leaking.

Hmm, I'll have to look at mine but I think the "missing" bolt may be normal...

I borrowed that pic from a friend, hope he doesn't mind :D It shows the two "missing" bolts near the corner, I assume that's the one you're talking about. I just looked on my stock LT4 as well... the hole closer to the rear is for the alternator/AC bracket. The hole closer to the front is unused. I suspect it may be for the B- or F-body accessory setup.
