I know g92 is the performance axle. Are there other gear options thats you could have gotten in a automactic? The person i purchased my car from says it has performance gears factory installed but it does not have the g92 code.
Any ideas what he might mean. Is there anyway to tell what size gaers it has?Is it on the rear anywhere telling the ratio? like 3.07 or 283s and so on
Thanks
Rich
G92 merely indicates "preformance option" gears. The actual ratio of the "performance option" changed, year to year, auto to standard, and sometimes, coupe to convertible, as did the standard ratio. Bogus is probably correct in stating 3.07s are the "G92" for your car. *I* haven't a clue. On your RPO sheet, there will be other "G" codes. One of those will be the precise ratio indicator. Of course, there is always the "jack it up and count turns" method. Good luck, and...
RACE ON!!!

If the "performance gears" were factory installed, you would have the "G92". If the "factory performance gears" were installed after the car were built, the "G" codes will be meaningless, as would any stampings of the diff housing. It looks like it's time to jack it up.
i agree. Jack it up, mark the tire and driveshaft. Have someone slowly rotate the tire one full turn while you count your driveshaft rotations. It's most likley going to be a 2.59 or 3.07.

`95 is one of the simplier years of the performance axle option.
RPO G44 is a 3.07 ratio, and is the only ratio available with the optional G92 performane axle option for `95 coupes and convertibles.
Check the RPO sticker located in the storage compartment behind the passenger seat, a `95 auto will have either GM1 (2.59 ratio) or G44 (3.07) listed. Unless a previous owner changed the rear diff.

:iagree: G44 is the 3.07s, easy enough. If I'm not mistaken it has to have G44 and G92 though? G92 = "performance axle" and the G44 tells you the ratio. I have G92/G44 in my '95.
Had an RPO page online with all of them, even the harder to find ones, now it's down :nonod:
GU2 is the 2.73 I upgraded to a 3.55 I call it G-U-R much faster now.
Seriously, it was my best bang for the buck!
Just went from 2.73 to 3.07 myself. But you couldn't tell without jacking the car and counting the turns. I had the guts of a 3.07 (from a wrecked car with a cracked case) put into the old stock case.
