Is there a conversion kit out there that modernizes TPI to sequential firing of injectors? If so, has anybody got any impressions to share? This would have to be more efficient, in terms of both MPG and HP.
Re: TPI : Batch to Sequential Conversion? (scorp508)
I'm with Scorp, I doubt that the gains would outway the cost. If you are going to use the FAST system for other reasons as well, then it may be viable!

A friend of mine is working on converting his TPI to use LS1 electronics. He is running it now with the '730 ecm and the multi coil ignition. With the 8 coils, the idle quality is unbelievable! He has just bought a house, so it may be a while before the project gets finished.

I am not so sure the gains won't be measurable... but I expect the system will cost $2500.00!
That's A LOT of gas! I know that the best my 92 (batch) will get is about 26mpg, highway, whereas a 95 or 96 (seq) will get about 30~31.
That is an improvement... rather large, too. but how long will it take for the payoff?

I really wouldn't get your hopes up too much in terms of gains.
The scorp man is right on. I have a SEFI DFI Gen VII. Prior to installation, I was told by the shop that my gas mileage would increase :D  ummm, oh kay! I have yet to see a difference really. Horsepower? yes, it's more powerful than ever, but fuel mileagewise...nahh.
If you can afford the car, you should be able to afford the fuel. Hell, in my blown 'stang, I used straight 116 octane fuel...and burned several tankloads on the street.
Re: TPI : Batch to Sequential Conversion? (Jay 383)
Where I use sequential systems (usually FAST or Electromotive) with the most success is in combinations that have to use REALLY big injectors and are still going to be run on the street. Examples would be the twin turbo Cobra I'm working on right now; this car runs 72 lb/hr injectors to supports its 730 rwhp AND he drives the damn thing on an almost daily basis. The sequential, honestly doesn't make much if any more hp than a well-tuned batch/bank to bank system... But what it DOES do is allow much more finite tuning of the injectors and A/F ratio at idle and part throttle characteristics than the other systems do which allows you to trim the pulsewidth of these big-azz injectors to where they are crisp and clean in these driving conditions.
