Default 3rd brake light replacement - HELP

I have an 86 convertible with the third brake light in the rear bumper section. I have found references to how to change the brake lights by reaching through the plate hole, but when I do that I can't feel where there are any connections. Am i just giving up too easy, or is there a trick for the third light that I have missed?

Mine is a different year, but I think the third light might be the same. On mine, the connections to the light are at the center and bottom of the light assambly, not on the back. Hope that helps.

So how would I change a bulb? Do you mean they come out from the bottom?

yep, the bulb is at the bottom of the light assambly. If you reach up there, you should be able to feel the wires. Follow the wire to the light, and that should lead you to the light bulb connector. Once you get to the connector, turn the connector about 45 degrees and the light bulb should come out. You might want to take a flash light and shine it up by the license plate light. I think you might be able to see the connector that way.
