Default """SM0G PUMP PULLEY KIT""" question

I installed that kit---and LOVE it....but I started the engine today and got the engine hot--just to try it out without running down the road. And after the engine got real hot, we smelled strong fuel odors coming from under the plenum area, possible near the fuel pressure regulator. I'm pretty sure I did the job correct. Heres what I did with the vacuum lines.
there were 2 vacuum ports at the pass/rear side of the plenum,
LINE FROM PORT 1 TO FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR
LINE FROM PORT 2 TO SPLITTER, WHERE IT SPLITS TO 1 LINE RUNNING DOWN FIREWALL AREA , AND THE OTHER LINE (BIGGER LINE) RUNNING ALL THE WAY AROUND THE PLENUM TO FRONT DRIVERSIDE NOSE AREA....any ideas what the smell could be---Also, I know this question has been asked but, are you sure that no codes will be triggered with this smog system removal--I just tied the 2 harnesses up under the plenum entrance.... :leaving:

Why did you remove the vaccum line that goes from the plenum to the fuel pressure regulator to install a AIR Pump Eliminator pulley?

This will raise and keep your fuel pressure up higher at all times, causing a rich condition. Re connect that one how it was and see what happens.

The other vaccum line with a "T" joint has one side going arround the distributor and that is for the Cruise Control check valve. I would re- connect that "T" back to the plenum, remove the long platic vaccum line that runs to the front of the motor, and just plug off the RH side that "T" joint. Or just replace the "T" joint with an "L" joint to still allow vaccum to go from the back corner of the Plenum, to the Cruise Control check valve on the other side of the distributor. This way you still have Cruise Control.

A friend of mine with an 85 removed all the smog junk, inluding the AIR soleniods to were the 2 wire harnesses connect to. He does not throw any codes. Neither will you.

Your vacuum lines are correct were they are.
Maybe a line from the vapour cannister is leaking ??
Can you see any fuel near regulator ??
Good Luck
