I am hveing a problem with my car. I installed heads and cam on my 1995 corvette. After install The car started but ran rough so then I ordered a pcmforless program. Whan trying to install it I ran in to problems. I ran flshread, typed in rtacy for the file name port 1 for the port. Then it asked me to conect the cable and turn the key to the on position. So I did that. So I pushed (p) for proceed. Then my fan in the car kicked on and my computer read that it abborted, error 60 somthing or other 6600. I went put and looked in the vehicle and I had sys and security flashing in the speedometer display. Anyway, now my car is outside with no hood on it and I am really frustrated. I tryed to call Bryan at PCMforless several times but he has not called yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ray
Ray was you just performing a read? If that is what you were doing, then just disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the PCM. Then try reading it again. Now if you was performing a actual flash programming of the PCM then you may have a problem.
The program first initiates communications, then erases one memory chip then the second chip, then it programs chip A then programs chip B. So if the program halted during the sequence, and the chips didn't have a chance to program, basically the PCM is brain dead. Sometimes if enough of a program was programmed into the chips it can be recovered, but if its brain dead the only way to repair this is to have someone like me to take the PCM apart, remove the chips, install sockets, reflash the chips manually in a chip programmer, install the chips and reassemble the PCM. The only other alternative is to replace the PCM with either a used PCM or a REMAN unit. Installing a REMAN would require having a dealer or a shop equipped with a GM SPS programming system to flash the PCM with a GM calibration.
Thanks Twong,
I had to skip the read part and go to the program part. I disconected the battery like you said and conected it back together. It reset. Then I programed it and it worked fine. The only thing is that I don't have my old program now
Ray, if you mean you don't have your stock calibration. You can send me your VIN and I will send you a STOCK GM calibration. I have a GM SPS system here at home so I can email you a bone stock GM file.
Tjwong,
Is there any reason why I would need it or use that stock program in the future? If there is that would be great if you could send it to me. Thanks, Ray
It is always good to have a bone stock UNCORRUPTED file on hand just in case something happens. Sort like a back up disk for your PC. So if you send me your VIN I can give you a GM calibration.
