Default Installing a 160 t-stat

I was wondering if changing the t-stat on my 95 coupe requires me to drain some coolant? It probably would be safer, but how many of us actually disconnect the negative cable everytime we should?

What do you think?

You should be O.K., You might want to raise the front a little , either by way of ramp or simply parking on an incline!!! just to be sure.
